400 Boko Haram insurgents killed in battle to retake Bazza, Michika, Madagali on October 07, 2014

Heavy fighting between Nigerian troops and Boko Haram terrorists ensued yesterday in Adamawa State as soldiers backed from the air by Nigerian Airforce attack helicopters launched an attack to retake territories in the possession of Boko Haram.
Adamawa-bokoIn the ensuing battle that continued into the night, Vanguard gathered that about 400 Boko Haram terrorist had been killed while there were casualties on the part of the Nigerian soldiers.
Military sources in Adamawa state told Vanguard that the onslaught to retake the towns of Bazza, Michika and Madagali was launched from the town of Vimtim, the hometown of the Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh and that the General Officer Commanding 3 division of the Army, Major General Mohammed Zaruwa was coordinating the onslaught
Said the source, “I can assure you that we are advancing successfully. We have dealt a heavy blow on the terrorists. They didn’t expect what they are seeing. Our armoured tanks are blasting and they are running for their lives. The airforce is providing air cover and hitting them also.
“I cannot give you a categorical answer regarding casualties but so far about 400 of the terrorists have been killed. We have casualties among our soldiers also but the propaganda circulating that 70 of our men were killed is wishful thinking”.
“From reports on the ongoing battle, we may have lost a few soldiers but it cannot be confirmed because usually, they may have been injured and are holed up somewhere for first aid treatment” the source said.
Contacted on the development, Director of Defence Information, Major General Chris Olukolade confirmed the fighting but stated he cannot give casualty figures or full details as operatives on ground were yet to furnish him with the situation report. He said he would give details when the operation is concluded.
Online media reports had indicated that during the fight at least 70 soldiers were killed in a fierce battle between insurgents and Nigerian troops and pointed out that the fighting was for control of the towns of Bazza and Vimtim in Adamawa State, a claim denied by the military source.
The source further debunked claims that Boko Haram used helicopters to fight back noting that the Nigerian airforce helicopters may have been mistaken for that.
An eye witness told newsmen that the insurgents at a point on Sunday might re-grouped at the Federal Government College, (Technical) in Michika before they were dislodged and chased away.
According to him, “the army came in on Sallah day and since then fierce fighting has been on. But, as you can see the insurgents are moving away and the military are following them”.
“The insurgents who were in their thousands came through Uba and attacked the Nigeria troops. “The gallant Nigerians soldiers were attacked from the rear by the militants but the military men engaged them in fierce battle over five hours “.
It will be recalled that on the 7th of September, 2014 the Boko Haram insurgents overran Michika, Bazza, Madagali and other border towns between Adamawa and Borno State during which the son of the former Nigeria President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, a Lieutenant Colonel, Olugbenga Obasanjo an Engineer in the Nigeria Army was shot and wounded.
During the takeover of Madagali and Michika, the insurgents also attempted to overran Vimtim, the hometown of the Chief of Defence staff, Air Chief Marshall Alex Badeh.

S’East Should Forget Presidency And Support Jonathan In 2015 – Eze

Arthur-ezeA Peoples Democratic Party stalwart, Chief Arthur Eze, on Monday called on people of the South- East to support President Goodluck Jonathan to run for a second term as that is the only way the region can produce a President in the future.
Eze spoke at Ukpo, Dunukofia Local Government of Anambra State, where he registered as a member of the PDP in the fresh registration of party members.
Eze, who was accompanied by a former Nigerian Ambassador to Austria, Dr. Jerry Ugokwe, and members of the PDP Harmonisation Committee in the state, said the South- West had its shot at the Presidency with former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s eight year tenure.
He said the turn of the South-East would come after Jonathan would have completed his second term and the north would have had a chance at it.
Urging people of the South-East to accept this reality, Eze explained that his appeal would help the country escape future political turmoil.
He blamed the protracted crises in the state branch of the PDP on self-serving individuals, who over the years had considered their personal interests above the interest of the state.
Eze said, “I do not feel happy seeing my state always in the news because of PDP crisis. I found out that those causing the confusion are the power-drunk individuals.
“We must be very careful on whatever we do; we should support President Jonathan in his mission because for now, he is the only person who can tackle the problem of Ndigbo. Our people are very difficult to lead.
“The people of Anambra and indeed Nigeria need peace. There is need to love one another, we should live in peace instead of all these troubles everywhere. God loves this country, our people are just fighting for selfish interests.”
He commended the Kenneth Emeakayi-led executive for working for peace in the state PDP, saying it was the beginning of good things to come to the party.

Anybody Fighting Jonathan’s Fighting God And Will Perish, Says Billionaire PDP Chieftain, Eze

prince-arthur-ezeA chieftain of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Anambra State, Prince Arthur Eze, has advised those fighting against President Goodluck Jonathan to desist or face the wrath of God as his mandate was divinely ordained.
Mr. Eze made this known while speaking with State House correspondents on Tuesday shortly after he visited Mr. Jonathan at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
According to Mr. Eze, anyone who opposes the president opposes God and will perish.
His words: “… Jonathan is our brother, God gave him power and anybody fighting him is fighting God, the person will perish and I don’t want perish. He was in his village and God sent for him and gave him power”.
The Anambra-born billionaire argued that Mr. Jonathan was transforming the lives of Nigerians and called for support for the president because it is the will of God.
“Now all of us will support him, he is fighting for all you the new generation. I am an old man, I am dying and that is why you have to support him and change your life. He has started changing the lives of Nigerians, the widows, the orphans, the needy. That is the will of God”.
Mr. Eze, who solely financed the governorship ambition of the PDP candidate – Tony Nwoye – in the recently held elections in Anambra State and had accused the outgoing governor, Mr. Peter Obi, of rigging the polls in favour of eventual winner, Willie Obiano of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, pledged his support for the governor-elect.
“I am the founder of APGA. The new governor is a young man, when you look at him, very cool. We shall support him to succeed him. So all of us should vote for Jonathan”, he stressed.

Does anyone else out there get heart broken by this daily boko haram massacre against innocent students & other Nigerians or is it just me ??... Is it humans that are slaughtered like that or birds??? Imagine if your younger sibling was among those students massacred at their school hostel in Yobe state??.. (Sheds tears). I think we spend more time on unimportant things rather than issues affecting our fellow Nigerians.. This satanic act will surge sooner or later & we will lock up our selves in our homes or flee Nigeria for safety! Let's cry out loud wit one voice until our Government takes this as their top priority even if they have to pay the westerners 2 come and tackle this menace wit their own army since ours has proven incompetent! there's no pride in using a strategy that will save thousands or millions of lives. People die everyday and this monsters feels unbreakable as they spill more blood on daily basis..
